I do agree with this. Everyone has always said it takes more muscles to frown than smile. I have not tried it but I believe that smiling more often and in more stressful situations can be very helpful. I definitely think I should try it sometime! I stress about a lot of things and if just smiling is the cure, I don't see why I wouldn't try it.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with this. If I try to force myself to smile, it usually affects my mood negatively. I can alter my moods in other ways. Also a forced smile hurts my face. And that's just not fin at all.
ReplyDelete*fun
DeleteI agree with this! Whenever I just smile, it seems to brighten my mood for a second, even if it isn't for very long. Mostly during sports I do that because then I am more focused on my smile than whatever I want to complain about. So it does help somewhat! Plus, it brightens other people's moods too.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this! I mean I already smile all the time. I know sometimes the situation might be hard but smiling just helps! It might brighten your mood and also the people around you. You also never know who's falling in love with your smile!
ReplyDeleteI don't really agree with this article. It is really hard to fake a smile and it doesn't make me feel better, it just makes me feel worse. I don't think that faking emotion is going to do anything for your stress levels. I think that if you are stressed you should do something fun and take a break or watch a funny video. Then you will lower your stress level by producing an actual smile, not a fake one.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with this to an extent. When I tried to smile it did lift me up a bit but then when I did it I was masking my emotion. I do agree that a smile does help with your mood. Your always happier when you are smiling or laughing.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it makes sense that if you smile more you will not feel as stressed. Sometimes when something makes you really angry the best way to deal with it is to laugh it off. When you do that you are not as angry at the situation and will not be as stressed about it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this too. When I am smiling I am never stressed and always excited. When I don't smile I am not a happy person and can be really crabby and stressed. Smiles always changes moods and even when you smile at other people it can change there mood also.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this article. Obviously if you smile it would make you happy and be less stressed. Just because you smile doesn't make all of your issues go away, but it probably helps deal with them better. Even being smiley and happy around other people could help them. I smile a lot, and I try to not let things get me down. I would say it works pretty well.
ReplyDeleteI agree that smiling makes things seem better even if they're not. However, sometimes I'm in such a bad/stressed mood that smiling does not help, but most of the time it does help me. I've used this before when trying to talk with somebody who is upset about something or is being very negative. Sometimes when they see your reaction/emotion and you're smiling/being nice even if you're not happy that softens their mood.
ReplyDeleteI think it helps to smile, but if you do it just to try to make yourself feel better it probably wouldn't help. It does work in small situations, for instance, if a customer is being rude to you and you have to help them whether or not you like it, I tend to put a smile on and help them. It helps convince the customer that you are willing to help them, even though they are being rude. Also tends to lighten the mood so that not only you can feel happier, but maybe the customer moves on and stops being rude.
ReplyDeleteI think that it really helps to smile, especially if you are very down about something. Its not going to fix all of the problems going on in your life, but it may help for just a few seconds, a few minutes, or maybe even a few hours. It may erase just a little bit of that stress bringing you down, so you can keep going with your day. I have had many tragic things happen to me in the last few months, but I try my best to keep a smile on my face just so I can try to be happy at least for a little while, because maybe then it will make things become a little easier.
ReplyDeleteI find this article very interesting. Smiling has great physiological benefits, but it also has psychological benefits for me. Whenever I find myself in a situation that is not ideal, I find smiling to keep my thoughts and actions in check.
