Video of the Week:
Watch this video and tell me your thoughts. What is the single best thing you can do do cure all of the sickness/ailments he talks about? What is his prescription. Tell me at least 2 things that surprised you. Take the time to watch this, it is pretty interesting, I promise.
The single best thing you can do for yourself to help prevent sickness/ailments as you age is to exercise!!! His prescription is to limit your sleeping and sitting time to just 23 and a 1/2 hours a day and make time for exercise. I thought it was interesting that just by dog walking most people can get in 150 minutes of exercise a week which is what he recommends as a good dosage to stay fit. I was very surprised when he said that the average American adult watches about 5 hours of television a day! Also people who went from no exercise to 1 hour a week reduced their risk of heart disease by 50%! I thought that was crazy to think about and it just makes me think of the feeling you get after you go for a jog/run and how good you feel after and that’s probably because you’re helping prepare your body and improve it to be less susceptible to contracting diseases as you age.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing you can do for yourself is EXERCISE. This guy was saying how you should really try to, at the least, exercise for 30 minutes every day. In other words, only spend 23 and a 1/2 hours sitting around. The main thing that surprised me was his drawings and writing everything. That was just interesting and made me actually stay interested to watch it. But it interested me that TV was one of the main killers, shortening someone's life by 5 years. I also thought it was cool that exercising worked better than a surgical procedure, which only helped one part of the heart anyways, not your whole body.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the longer you exercise and stay in shape, the longer you can stay healthy well you grow older. Even if you have a really busy schedule you should always be able to find a simple way to get some physical activity in your day. It amaze me with the whole T.V. things. I never watch much television because Im always busy doing something else. I liked the fact that he said you could exercise for one hour a week and just by doing that you help your heart by 50 percent. It is amazing what a little bit of exercise a day can do.
ReplyDeleteThe most intriguing thing that I picked up is that not only will exercise extend your life but will also increase the quality of your life as well. I can kind of relate. When I don't exercise I don't sleep very well. I also think the television facts are crazy!
ReplyDeleteThe single best thing you can do to cure all the sickness/ailments he talks about is exercise. The most interesting thing is that he only asks for a little bit of exercise per day. I personally would think that you'd need quiet a bit more, like an hour of actual physical activity and at least a couple hours of moving around. Who would sit down for that long and not want to move? I play video games and I have to get up and run downstairs and do something, otherwise I get uncomfortable and bored of sitting in one place for a extended period of time. The most interesting thing to me was probably how long people watch TV for. Most I ever watched Tv was years ago when I liked watching cartoons and watched them on saturday for a long time, due to not having cable, that and the first time I watched Burn Notice, I watched it continuously for 2 episodes.
ReplyDeleteThis video was very intriguing! I enjoyed how the drawing corresponded with the narration. I knew exercise was important, however, I did not know it had that much of an impact it really had. I guess I can relate with how exercise can have a positive impact on one's well being. When I'm super lazy, I tend to not feel well after a while. After this video, I really appreciate exercise even more!
ReplyDeleteThe single best thing that you can do for yourself is exercise. His prescription is to cut down on sleeping and sitting down and to try to exercise at lest 30 minutes to and hour a day. A couple of things that surprised me was that low exercise was more of a death risk then smoking and such. Another thing that surprised was that if you looked a women's heart and she started to exercise an hour a week you could reduce heart disease by almost half.
ReplyDeleteIt surprised me that he said to cut down on sleep considering how important everyone makes it out to be...The single best thing you can do is exercise.
ReplyDeleteYes, RSA animate has some good videos. I like this one in particular, because it does a good job of reinforcing my knowledge of health and exercise. He highlights the importance of cardio, tells you that daily exercise is imperative, and then adds a few things that you wouldn't expect. Good video, Mrs. Grimm!
